Our Facility
Occupied in August 2012, Flamingo operates from a world class facility which houses all our operations and management thereof. Our strategy is to mirror the construction of such facilities in every place we operate.
The facility constructed at HKIA consists of:
- Biometric Access Control throughout the facility to ensure restricted access to production processes whilst aiding as a security measure for food and operational safety.
- 24-hour CCTV throughout the facility. This is a useful aid in ensuring food safety and provides necessary traceability when required.
- A temperature controlled “panel-type” construction houses the facility ensuring optimum temperatures exist for the safe handling of food.
- Separate temperature-controlled cold rooms for storage of raw materials and prepared meals. The facility has dedicated, separate cold rooms for red meat, poultry, seafood, fresh fruits and vegetables, frozen vegetables, dairy products and confectionery items. The temperature of each cold room is monitored regularly in line with HACCP standards.
- Dedicated staff change rooms and canteen. Our staff are equipped with the correct protective clothing for the safe execution of all our services.
- A world-class airline catering specific dishwasher. Flamingo utilizes a 3-stage “wash and rinse” temperature controlled dishwasher to ensure the cleanliness of all routable crockery and cutlery.
- A dedicated trolley wash bay with high-pressure water guns for the efficient cleaning of airline trolleys.
- ‘Molok” system waste disposal units. Flamingo is amongst the first few companies in Namibia to have installed these world-class waste management units which ensure the hygienic handling of waste back by a servicing contract with a leading local company.
